Blackpool Library: Ongoing
We have been appointed by Blackpool Council to carry out extensive refurbishment of this Grade 2 listed building as part of a £3 million redevelopment of the towns main library.
The council said it was ” looking for something exceptional from this project, to set an example, at a national level, of innovative design concepts and modern service offer that can be applied to a Grade 2 Listed Building”.
Blackpool Central library is one of a few remaining original Carnegie buildings, and was built in 1911. Councillor Tony Williams, cabinet member for culture and communities said “Central Library is a truly iconic building that is significant not just in Blackpool’s history but nationally as one of the small collection of original Carnegie buildings that set a bench mark for all libraries and brought learning to the masses”.
